Jobs Board Title:
Website Committee - Symposium Historian (pick a year)

Post Date
8/20/2025

Expiration Date
11/18/2025

Details:
The Website Committee is looking for volunteers to help fill in our historical record of Symposiums. The eventual goal is for every Symposium we have held to have a dedicated webpage with photos, links to papers, information about presenters, details of social events, etc. The Website Committee has a large archive of documents and images scanned from boxes in the old Lancaster headquarters that historians can look through to find details and artifacts of the event.

Tasks include:

  • Choose an available year when an International Symposium was held. Ideally, the volunteer attended the Symposium they are writing about.
  • Create a webpage to celebrate that particular Symposium, which includes:
    • Each paper presented at the symposium is linked to the Papers Database
    • Bio information for each of the presenters, if it's available. Bio information is ideally written as if it's from that year, so accomplishments since then are not included.
    • Add write-ups and photos of the event, including social events, tutorials, etc. People in each photo should be identified by name if possible.
    • Information about the city and venue, and the chapter Symposium Committee, if available.
For available Symposium years, please see the Previous Symposia page:
https://www.sfte.org/previous_symposia.php

Please see the existing pages for examples of formatting and layout. It is not required to follow those formats, just to celebrate the particular Symposium and create a historical record.

The time commitment will depend on how much historical research the volunteer chooses to do and how many details they choose to add to the page. The request includes a minimum amount of information, but volunteers are encouraged to include as much information as they can find.

Time Commitment:
5-10 hours
