SUMMARY:Tech Council Webinar: AI and Machine Learning for Flight Testers
LOCATION:Google Meet
DESCRIPTION:Tech Council Webinar: AI and Machine Learning for Flight Testers\n\n07/09/26 09:00 AM PST\n - 07/09/26 10:00 AM PST\Description:\n\nPresenter: Ryan Bowers, Flight Test Engineer (40th Flight Test Squadron, USAF) & PhD student (Georgia Institute of Technology)\n\nRyan will present a practical guide to AI and machine learning for flight test professionals. Drawing on hands-on experience testing autonomous systems, the talk will demystify the core concepts behind modern ML, from convolutional neural networks to large language models, and build intuition for the unique ways that these systems behave and fail. The talk covers three main areas: a ground-up primer on ML fundamentals tailored to flight test engineers, a practical framework for testing and evaluating ML-enabled systems, and a candid look at how generative AI tools like large language models can improve the day-to-day work of a flight test engineer (and ways that we need to be careful). Throughout the talk, concepts are grounded using concrete flight test examples. The webinar offers actionable tips for professionals who need a working knowledge of AI/ML, whether they're writing test plans for autonomous aircraft, evaluating a contractor's model performance claims, or just trying to decide whether to trust the output of a language model.\n \Details:\nSFTE Bi-Monthly Webinar\nThursday, July 9 · 9:00 – 10:00am\nTime zone: America/Los_Angeles\nGoogle Meet joining info\nVideo call link: https://meet.google.com/mpg-vktj-ncs\nOr dial: ‪(US) +1 216-930-9745‬ PIN: ‪555 094 121‬#\nMore phone numbers: https://tel.meet/mpg-vktj-ncs?pin=4914724725843\Location:\nGoogle Meet\n\n,
