The talk covers three main areas: a ground-up primer on ML fundamentals tailored to flight test engineers, a practical framework for testing and evaluating ML-enabled systems, and a candid look at how generative AI tools like large language models can improve the day-to-day work of a flight test engineer (and ways that we need to be careful). Throughout the talk, concepts are grounded using concrete flight test examples.
